Hard to believe that it's been almost 2 weeks since Olivia was born! I tried to get on one day last week to post a birth story, but I was so scatter brained that I couldn't make the words go together like they were supposed to. As everyone knows I was scheduled to have a c-section on the 3rd of July, well little miss decided she was ready to come out and see the world around 3 that very morning! I woke up around 3 thinking I just had to go potty, came back and crawled in bedto try and go back to sleep when I realized I was having contractions every 5 minutes or so apart. I toughed it out and tried to go back to sleep thinking it was braxton-hicks, but had no luck. I laid in bed or sat on the side of the bed for 3 hours before finally deciding that it was time to get huby up and to make a call to my doctor. Hubby of course thought I was just faking, but he called his mom to come over anyway. While he called her I took a bath and got ready. The bath seemed to help a bit, spaced my contractions out to every 10 minutes or longer. MIL arrived about 30 minutes later. Hubby couldn't manage to get himself up, so I ended up going to the couch in the babys room to put up my feet and try to get some rest hoping the contractions would space back out, no such luck. Ended up getting back up around 9 and went back into the living room. Hubby finally got up and started getting ready and even called my doctors office to see what they said about me being in labor for 6 hours and being scheduled for a c-section that afternoon. Of course we weren't able to talk directly to my doctor, so the nurse told hubby that I should wait it out as long as I could then go to the hospital. By 11 I couldn't take it anymore, my back felt like it was going to break into everytime I had a contraction. So we loaded up the car and was off to the hospital. I was afraid that it would take forever to get admitted, but luckily it took less than 5 minutes and was wheled up to Labor and Delivery shortly after being admitted. Got in my room and called my mom to let her know I was already at the hospital and what room I was in. A few minutes later I was hooked up to the monitors, my IV was started, the nurse checked me to find out I was 6 centimeters dialated and went to call my doctor. She came back a few minutes later to let me know they were waiting on my doctor to call back and that anastesia was at the desk waiting to hear form him as well. Not too long after that the anastesiaologist was walking in to get me set up with an epidural. As soon as they were done with that I was wheeled back to the OR and she was born less than an hour later from arriving at the hospital. I have to say that it was the longest and most painfl labor I've ever had, but was definatly the shortest delivery time I've had after arriving at the hospital. Olivia Marie Born: July 3rd @ 12:55p.m Weight: 6 lbs. 1 oz. Length: 19 and 1/2 inches She was jaundice when she was born so my poor little angel had to be checked 4 times before the count finally came down. She's nursing like a champ, and when we took her for her last bili check last week she weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz. So she's gaining weight nicely! And she's truely the perfect baby. all she does is sleep. The only time she cries is when she's hungry or when I'm giving her a bath. As for me, I'm finally back to moving around normally, still hurts to try and sleep on my side though. I think I would've been up and around better if I hadn't over done myself the first few days I was home. My first day here I was overwhelmed and couldn't make myself sit down to relax. I kept finding stuff that needed to be done. But I'm better now. I have an appointment tomorrow to have a sucture removed and my incision checked. |
